Longtime Central Texas Resident​

Dr. Christopher Harvey moved to the City of Manor in 2006 from Austin, Texas.  Chris has primarily served the central Texas community in leadership roles in the field of education and social services.  Dr. Harvey's experiences include statewide project management support for Car Seat Safety, Director of Federal & State Grants, Strategic and Improvement Planning, Staffing, Building Community and Family Engagement, and Increasing Business and Community Partnerships, and reducing prison to 

Work experience includes Major Employers like: Texas Department of State Health Services, Concordia University, Texas State University, University of Texas at Austin, Communities in Schools, Austin ISD, and Manor ISD.  

Chris is married to Shaneen Harvey and has 3 beautiful girls, Chyra, Alaiya, and Chrishana.  They enjoy family game and movie nights, while frequently dining at local establishments like Texas Traditional Barbecue, Good Luck Grill, Ramos, and food trucks on FM 973.

 The Goal 

  • Increase social services and training for families and veterans
    (2012-2016 - 21% of residents in poverty - US Census Bureau)
  • Offer job training programs for youth and adults (veterans)
    (2012-2016 - 80% residents w/HS Diploma - US Census Bureau)
  • Build capacity for Travis County summer employment opportunities for youth
  • Offer yearlong enrichment and training programming for students in partnership with School District and Community Partners
  • Explore Long Range Strategic Planning for the City of Manor.  Focus on roadways, health, and safety infrastructure; Bring more businesses to Manor like HEB, LOWES, Home Depot, etc. to reduce average resident commute to and from work (2012-2016 - 33.2 minutes - US Census Bureau)
